I started Sightline in 2012 after watching a homeowner in Miami Lakes get three different prices for the same window opening from three different companies, none of them in writing. That still happens, and it still makes no sense to me. I measure every opening myself when the job requires it, and I keep the old survey forms in a file cabinet behind my desk. The one I remember most was a geometric window in Royal Oaks where the previous contractor had measured the rough opening instead of the daylight opening. The frame arrived two inches too wide. I still have that survey, marked with the correction and the date. I specify products from PGT, CGI, CWS, ES Windows, ECO Window Systems, Mr-Glass, Therma-Tru, and ViewLux based on what the opening actually needs, not what our warehouse happens to stock. Marcus T., Lead Technician

Marcus has been installing impact-rated windows and doors in South Florida since 2008, which means he was on crews during the post-Wilma building code changes that reshaped everything we do now. He holds a Miami-Dade County HVHZ certification for high-velocity hurricane zone installations, and he’s the one who checks every frame for level before the anchors go in. Marcus can read a sightline measurement from across a room, and he’s particular about shimming sequence, which matters more than most people realize when you’re dealing with a 130-pound impact door. His detail: he keeps a collection of failed seal samples in his truck, labeled by manufacturer and year, to show customers exactly what separates a proper glazing job from one that will fog in eighteen months.

Elena R., Senior Installer

Elena came to us from a commercial glazing crew in Hialeah, where she spent six years installing curtain wall systems on mid-rise buildings. That background shows in her tolerance work. He’s been with Sightline since 2019, and he knows the product lines well enough to explain why a CGI Estate Collection quote differs from a CWS quote for the same rough opening without putting a customer to sleep. Darnell schedules every measured survey, confirms every crew arrival window, and follows up after installation to make sure the photo record and warranty documents reached the customer. His detail: he grew up in Miami Lakes, in the Palm Springs North section, and he still lives three miles from our shop. He knows which neighborhoods built in the 1970s have the non-standard jamb depths that throw off big-box measurements.

Javier B., Apprentice Installer

Javier joined us in 2023 after completing a construction technology program at Miami Dade College. He’s working toward his HVHZ certification and currently shadows Marcus and Elena on every impact installation, handling prep, sealant application, and hardware adjustment. He’s already particular about documenting his work, which is why he fits here. Javier’s specialty so far is sliding door track alignment, which sounds simple until you’ve tried to get a 10-foot PGT sliding panel to glide smoothly after a foundation has settled for thirty years. His detail: he takes photos of every stage, not just because Haven Clause 5 requires it, but because his first crew chief taught him that the photo you skip is always the one the inspector asks about.
