Signs Your CWS Window Installation Is Failing

• Sash drops or won’t stay open. The coil balance has lost tension, usually from corrosion in the balance shoe. In Miami Lakes, we see this at higher rates on east-facing windows where morning salt air collects in the jamb channel.

There is nothing dangerous about checking a window yourself. Open the sash, look for the CWS label, photograph any damage, and clear weep holes with a piece of wire. Do not attempt to remove an impact-rated sash or IGU yourself. The glass is heavy, the glazing beads are under compression, and a dropped impact unit will shatter in a way that sends laminated glass shards in unpredictable directions.
